Paaediatric Chiropractic wide.jpg

Some of the

benefits:

  • reduced hours of crying â€‹

  • improvements to range of motion (a huge impact if range restricts breastfeeding)

  • improved muscle length and strength

  • neurological surveillance (primitive reflex integration and postural reflexes emerge)

  • Support with posture and movement milestones

  • irritable babies

  • excessive crying

  • plagiocephaly/flat head/torticollis

  • low tone/floppy baby

  • tongue ties and tongue function

  • retained primitive reflexes

  • delayed or uneven movement milestones

These are all common reasons parents bring their children to Chiropractors

We offer support for paediatric clients

Is it safe for

my baby to see a Chiropractor?

  • Check out the COAG Safer Care Victoria Review. It demonstrates just how safe Chiropractic Care is for babies.

(Attached below for parents to read)

  • Chiropractic is not a 'one size fits all' approach. Techniques are chosen, graded and applied with delicacy to suit the age, medical history and development of the child across their lifespan.

The COAG Safer Care Victoria Review

Direct quotes from the review:

  • 98% of parents reported Chiropractic care helped their child, indicating improvement after treatment.

  • 99.7% of parents reported a positive experience with Chiropractic care of their children.

  • In Australia, there has never been a serious adverse event reported in the literature or in insurance claims, involving the care of a child by a Chiropractor. This is despite the fact that there have been an estimated 12-15 million visits by children to Chiropractors in the last 20 years.

  • The evidence of harm is low because Chiropractors modify their techniques to suit the age and developmental stage of the patient across the lifespan.

The birthing process can be very traumatic for some babies and quite often kids will accumulate injuries when learning to roll, crawl, stand, walk and run.

Chiropractic care is a very safe and effective means of helping children with musculoskeletal injuries.

If a child is in pain they can present with many symptoms; fussiness, irritability and excessive crying.

Babies can't say 'I'm in pain', so excessive crying is often experienced by the parents. A research study reported reduced hours of crying time for some infants reciving Chiropactic Care. â€‹â€‹

How often?

For babies presenting with no problems at all, we recommend a check at birth, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 8 months and 12 months, or when bub has any significant fall. Developmental milestones, primitive reflexes and postural reflexes are checked at these appointments to make sure your child's nervous system is functioning optimally.

For school aged children we recommend a check at least every 3 months (school holidays are a simple way for most parents to remember their child is due for a check if they're performing at full function).
